Edward Somerset ? English Inventor of The World’s First Steam Engine 1653
I although as England has produced so a lot of famous inventors and engineers I believed it may well be of interest to write this short write-up on the world’s initial Steam Engine.
Edward Somerset (1601 – 1667) was an English nobleman involved in royalist politics he was also an inventor. In the book he authored in 1655 of more than 100 inventions, the energy and applications of what would become the steam engine are clearly described.
Edward Somerset was a Cavalier who supported Charles I in Wales and raised a regiment of horse for him. His campaigning in the West of England and in Wales did not go properly.
